Pottery Student

Six-week sessions

  • meet for 2 hours once a week
  • morning or evening classes available

    Cost: $120

    Fee includes:
    • Individualized instruction on the potter's wheel
    • Use of studio facilities
    • Use of clay tools
    • Clay
    • Glazes
    • Firing in gas kiln

    Class Schedule for six-week sessions:

    for beginning students:

    Week 1- wedging, introduction to throwing on the wheel (centering and throwing a small cylinder)

    Week 2- practice throwing a cylinder, working on consistency

    Week 3- throw 6 to 8 cylinders to add handles for mugs

    Week 4- trim 'leather-hard' pieces from previous week and 'pull' handles

    Week 5- glaze bisque fired pieces from previous week

    Week 6- Evaluate results of glazed and fired pieces from previous week and throw larger cylinders and bowl shapes

    Pottery Student
    for repeating or experienced students:

    Each week we will explore new techniques such as bottle shapes, lids, and complex forms.
    Repeat or experienced students can progress or work at their own pace.

    9:30 -11:30 AM
    or
    6:30 - 8:30 PM

    Limited space is available per class
    (Maximum of 4 students per class)
    but a deposit of $60 will reserve your
    place in this fun and rewarding class!
    (Due to the very small class sizes, there is currently a waiting list)
