Cedar Grove Pottery and Texas craftsman, Randy Brodnax, are offering seven days of pottery instruction. Each day will feature a different decorative process and firing technique. Participants will explore the dynamic potential of lichen glazes, copper flashing, and oxide application. Pieces will be fired with a range of high-fire and low-fire techniques, including wood and gas-fired raku, saggar pits, and sawdust reductions. Kiln construction and firing instructions will also be emphasized.

Randy Brodnax, a life-long potter and educator from Dallas, Texas, promises to entertain as he shares with participants his experiences in firing everything from functional dinnerware to large decorative vessels. A Louisiana native, who has retained much of the Cajun joie de vivre with which he was raised, Randy has spent a career building bridges among clay artists of all levels of experience. He will help participants seeking a refined focus, new direction, or simply camaraderie among clay artists.

Cedar Grove Pottery, owned and run by Sandy Dolph, offers an ideal education and recreational setting for students seeking to relax and learn more about clay craft. It is a comfortable work environment and retreat with ample deck space to gather, share ideas and relax.

Galiano Island is the jewel of the Canadian Pacific's Gulf Islands. Situated between Vancover and Victoria, Galiano is known for its unspoiled shoreline, secluded beaches, cedar forests, and mountain trails. Workshop participants will have the opportunity to take advantage of those attractions in addition to sea kayaking, sailing, and other water sporddts around the island.
